We offer weekly yoga classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6-715pm, suitable for all.
We are on Christmas break from 17 December until 20 January when weekly classes will resume. Happy holidays 🙂
General yoga – Mondays 6-715pm
On Mondays, 6-715pm, we have a general yoga class, suitable for beginners and those with experience. The classes are in a hatha yoga style, with some vinyasa (or flow) and some holding of poses. Classes include breathing practice (pranayama) and relaxation.
The classes run in ten week blocks, with a different theme each 10 weeks. The current theme is looking at how different yoga postures serve us physically and mentally. Gabrielle Meech leads this class, she has been teaching yoga for 18 years and practising for 35 years and continues to love the place inside that yoga transports her to.
Yoga + Yoga nidra – Tuesdays 6-715pm
On Tuesdays, 6-715pm, we have a class with a mixture of general yoga practices for 30-40 minutes and yoga nidra for 30-40 minutes. The general yoga is suitable for everyone, beginners and those with experience, and has a different emphasis each week, sometimes including a yin practice, sometimes focusing on an element of the body with a hatha yoga emphasis.
Yoga nidra is a lead meditative relaxation practice which you experience lying down. It is deeply restorative and very relaxing. John Joyce leads this class, he has been teaching yoga for 25 years, and meditating for 45 years and is passionate about the benefits yoga brings you.
Cost & Location
Classes are $80 for 10 consecutive weeks. Please bring your yoga mat if you have one (we have plenty of extras if you don’t).
Classes are held at Strathean Retreat Centre, 212 Old Hautere Road, Hautere. Please take the right fork in the driveway to the carpark.
